I have to butt weld two sheets of .135 409 together and my lee guy is telling me to spray instead of short circuit. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think spraying that will put way more heat into that. It's going in the plate roller after so not sure if warpage is that much of a issue.

Reply:Thanks for the input! I will try sc, pulse, pulsed spray, and spray on Monday when the material gets to work and let you know the results. Also the welder I have at work is a miller 350p
Reply:The spray transition current is lower for stainless than for mild steel so it may work if you move fast. Given the machine you have I would use pulse spray with 95/5. 409 is sort of "in between" 300 series SS and mild steel, so you may have to adjust your pulse parameters a bit.JohnLast edited by Silicon-based; 08-04-2013 at 09:36 AM.Reason: Add infoA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps |
