Last week I was asked by my company if I could duplicate this old jobbuilt precast lifter. Turns out it works like a dream lifting tee-walls...despite its rough...yet handsome... exterior. This is a tool the precast company would lend out to customers to borrow. It purportedly was hacked together as a copy of a "real" one many years ago. I got to take it to my shop for a day to "steal" some dimensions. Looking it over, I believe it was entirely torch cut and welded with 6011 without the benefit of a grinder...using lead painted steel, of course! Here is a photo of what this thing lifts...and it does it perfectly well.More pics detailing the quality fabrication...POVERTY...is the Mother of InventionMillermatic 211Millermatic 140Miller Thunderbolt XLArcOne 100STS inverter w/TIGThermal Dynamics 38XL Victor Oxy/AcetyleneJancy Slugger Holemaker IIJet 5x6 BandsawNever enough time & sleep.

Reply:Nice! Any process pictures? I also wouldn't worry about it looking too new very long once it starts getting used. Though I would have been tempted to try and recreate the 'patina' of the original! Or maybe not...Here in AZ I see things like that but they don't even bother painting them.
