Reply:all my stuff is on polaroids, done them before I had digital media capabilities, and not certain I still have those... Go to pretty much any chassis builder, most of them will gladly show you their shop and work, just be courteous and ask...  If you have any 1/4 mile tracks near you that would be a good place to start,  if you see any of the 10.5" tire street car shootouts ,check out their cages, they can have some pretty elaborate work done on their cages..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:yea that stuff looks good, anything for drag cars or circle track cars? looking at practicing over the winter maybe get a job in a shop doing this.If the conversation isn’t money, then I’ll see you later.

Reply:I'm interested in this one. I trying to bend some tubing with my model 3. One bend or two not to bad but more than that is difficult.Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .

Reply:Originally Posted by brucerAre you getting tired?      Use some white lithium grease, I used the spray the tube prior to bending it, helps knock the friction down..  other than that you have to man up, or convert to hydraulics. I also used a 8" piece of 1x2 tubing welded to a piece of 36" round tubing for an extension, made it pretty easy to bend manually...
Reply:Do yourself a HUGE favor, and invest a couple hundred dollars in Bend-Tech.Design your cage, and it tells you where to bend, and at what angles. Do a youtube search on it.Its a an amazing and fairly simple program!Miller Synchrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Torchmate 2x2Victor O/A
Reply:When I first got my bender I did several test bends at different angles and noted the memory of the material..  I always used dom tubing and I always used the same supplier. get a degree ring..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:My modei 3 has that already. I'm attempting to recreate an old school mini bike frame the first two bends are easy, the third one is giving me trouble because it bends up and inwards. The problem I'm having is positioning the tube in the bender correctly to obtain this bend.Last edited by Steelwill; 11-16-2013 at 05:42 AM.Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .

Reply:u guys miggin or tiggin, i see some people mig and some tig. i prefer tig esp when it comes to one off stuff. If the conversation isn’t money, then I’ll see you later.
Reply:I usually mig welded because it was much faster, time was money then...tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:I usually leave the decision to mig or tig up to the customer or if the sanctioning body they are racing under requires one or the other. As a general rule most everything can be mig'd except 4130. With NHRA rollcages Ive had to cut holes in the floor to drop the cage low enough to do a complete 360 weld. If not you have to gusset. Bend tech software really helps or you'll beat yourself up in time, waste and frustration. I have also had customers bring me a a bolt in cage and they say go ahead and weld it... problem is there are twice as many welds to make because all the connections have a sleeve with two ends. I only do cages if things are slow because they aren't very good money makers. I sweat every inch of it as if it had to protect me. You can buy a custom bent frame and then customize it to the customer's liking. I buy Art Morrison cages then tune them to my liking. You also have to consider the insurance end of it. A lawsuit will likely follow if there is a fatal accident or major injury. After you try a few you 'll probably agree they are fun and challenging to do but not worth the money or liability.
