I know this is redundant but I feel like a 5 year old in a toy factory so I just had to post my 1st. welder.    I have the necessary electrical/breaker to power up the welder.  Still need to make an extension cord and get a welder mask and some other items to complete my weld kit.   Plans were to take electrical course at the local community college but will now take welding instead at the same community college (St. Philips College).   Once the welder is powered up I will use some of my used lawn mower blades to practice laying out a bead.   If anyone knows a place in San Antonio, TX to purchase metal supply’s from , please chime in.
Reply:Congrats on your  new welder, may the fun begin! Oh and welcome. I started with the 140, you are a step ahead already.Thermal Arc 210 - Tweco 211I - Cutmaster 52
Reply:Are you in San Antonio proper?
Reply:The 180 is a very good welder IMO. I have been using one for the last 20 years. Not sure if you have a home depot or a lowes, but they usaly sell small pieces of steel. Or if there is a weld shop around, sometimes they will let you pick through their scrap bin at no charge as long as you don't get greedy. Anyways,  good luck!Operating Engineers Local 3Lincoln SA 200Victor TorchDewalt Grinder10 lbs SledgeWhat more do ya need!
