Found this lincoln red d arc?

Does anybody know why the Machine runs but their is no power to the leads? Owner states. What may typically be wrong, guy has it for sale locally and I don't know much about these gensets, don't have the model number. Would it be a horror story making this a project? Reply:I'm using that exact machine at work right now. It's a dumbed down Lincoln 300. It probably has a Kubota diesel in it. These are a very nice welder. Very smooth soft buttery arc. How many hours are on it? Reply:Might just need to be flashed. They are a good machine though. I don't think they have any throttle control at all. Just one speed all the time. The Kubota is a long life reliable engine.
Reply:I'd start off checking the most common thing that folks don't know about these welders and what causes them to not strike an arc. The remote amp control plug in. This machine is a plain Jane lincoln. Nothing on it for features at all. No fuel gage, constant 1800 rpm running diesel. No remote control on/off switch. Open the left side cover and you will see where the leads plug into the machine. To the left of that is the remote amp control pig tail/plug in. It should be a twist lock style plug. To use a remote amp control you simply plug in a cord and attach your control box. However, if your not using a remote and your using the panel on the machine for amp control, you must plug the short pig tail into the remote amp control plug in.
