http://iowacity.craigslist.org/for/4045061945.htmlI don't need this, but I'm thinking of getting it and fixing it for my nephew as a graduation present. He's in a mechanic program and should graduate this spring. The did some welding and said he really enjoyed it. This isn't the best welder, but I'm sure he'd love it.So, what would you pay for it knowing what the ad says?
Reply:Get the name and model number to see if parts are available. If it was my nephew I would look for a MILLER , LINCOLN , or HOBART.

Reply:There are two gift ideas I'd go with...either a gift card to someplace that has a decent welder/tool selection like TSC or buying a used stick welder off of craigslist that's in working shape. I know I always appreciated such especially when I was in school...one year my family all pitched in for a gift card to TSC so that I could have a little bit to help me get my Stickmate welder. Or another great choice would be a used stick welder on craigslist, something that's running and is dead solid reliable and he can use it to continue learning to weld and make repairs and stuff very economically.Hobart Stickmate LX235AC/160DCRanger 305GVictor 315 O/A rigHope to acquire in the next couple of years: Hypertherm PM45 and Dynasty 200DX |
