Hey everyone, At school tonight we started OAW vertical on 1/16" mild steel plate. The instructor had us try it at a 45 first then straight up and down. I think I did well. There are a few beads that I added too much filler. The edges of my welds did't blend in very well with my base metal. After realizing this I changed my technique a little ie. not spending SO much time in the puddle with the rod. I really dig OAW. I like the challenge of it. Anyways here's a few pics of my results from tonight. This is my first night ever trying OAW vertical. I am a southpaw but we were encouraged to try both hands.
