Reply:yeah, I like and promote rust as a finish. I suggest that people spend the money that would go to paint or to powder on thicker metal.Those gussets had to go in cause there was a property line dispute and the hasp side post of that gate had to move. The gate had to be extended 38 inches and I suggested that we do that as a precautionary measure. That gate is already too freakin big. Those gussets are 18 inches tall and go down to a 3/8 plate that is dead nuts flat against the cement I poured for the post and I put 8 1/2 inch redhead fasteners down through the plate into the cement. Those gussets were fun to weld.I was running my Lincoln weldanpower 225 on the CV tap with an LN25 with 045 NR211. I'll tell you what; that is one great welding setup. That wire burns so smooth out of that machine, a monkey could weld with it.I just replaced that weldanpower with a miller TB302.
