Reply:Yep I love my PowerMax 45. I do alot of work on heavy duty farm and construction machinery! The PowerMax 45 hasn't failed to do even the thickest cuts for me and the consumables seem to last forever.Hypertherm has a manufacturers sub forum here at Welding Web you'll find plenty of other Max owners there.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:So Bollinger660 when are we going to see some pics of your unit in action! Take some old metal bed frames and build a welding cart for it. That is one of the easiest projects! Reply:Skywest,Take a little trip up 287 to Laramie and have a visit. I've just put a PlasmaCam together with a Powermax-30 and it's a lot of fun. The 45 will be next.
Reply:Dano if you have any question putting that PlasmaCam together ask Jim Colt of Hypertherm! I believe its the PlasmaCam DSC 2 that he has hooked up to his PowerMax 45.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:Thanks Specter,Jim has been most helpful with my questions, as has George from PlasmaCam. It's got some tuning needed and I'm still dialing it in. So far, it's been flawless with the exception of the operator not paying close enough attention. When they say to ground it, they really mean it.The biggest problems I had were overcome by plugging the computer, PCam and the Hypertherm into seperate circuits. When they caution about EMF on the power lines, they really mean it.Now, if I can just get that dross minimized on .060 aluminum, I'll be all set.

Reply:I have to agree with you TxDoc! Every time someone witnesses a plasma cutter in action its hard to believe something like that can produce a finely controlled heat many times hotter than the surface of the sun.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back. |
