Another weekend...... another use for left overs in the scrap bin........These pieces came off an old stainless table from Costco that I got for free.......... when I bought my welder...... the guy said "here..... take this too...... I don't want it".........So I hacked it up since it was broken and rickity anyway......1/16" thick tube...... the bottom piece is 1/8" thick...... the endcap pieces on the cross are thinner....... maybe 1/32"..........Since class ended May 5th.... this is my first stainless welding since then...... and BOY OH BOY I have fallen out of the groove........55 amps..... peddle....... 1/16" Red Tungsten....... #7 cup....... Eye Glasses and cheaters in use...... all beads run vertical up (just for the heck of it)......PICS........ Attached ImagesPrecision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook...... Reply:Why a #7 cup? I use a #4 with a gas lens with a 1/16" tungsten. Btw, nice job.http://www.facebook.com/LockhartMetalArthttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Grumpy...44306259043484

Reply:Guys at the steel yard messed up, and put some 1" stainless flat in my order.  I never use stainless, and I didn't look when they threw it on the pickup.Never having worked with stainless, I decided to use some of it for a strap to hold down some wood on a deal I'm building.  WORST STUFF EVER  Drill bit walks on it like a drunk if you don't use a center punch  Never hardly does that on mild steel  Used to just punching holes on the drill press without using a punch for something non critical, but this stuff will make a believer outta yaNever say much about your stuff, but it's cool"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I remember in one thread you had said that you and the wife weren't very religious, but you sure do have a thing for cross, and like other have said here I'm sure practice makes perfect and if you don't use it you loose it, nice cross by the way how did you bend the metal?hyper therm, esab, miller, a 22,380, 45acp,  223. 308, 12 guage and a 9 mil the 45 is for ccw, a 9mil will kill the body, the 45 will kill the soul.
Reply:Hi Ron...... yeah I'm not real religious at all.....The crosses are just a way for me to practice several joints all on one piece....... purely practice pieces that eat up some scrap at the same time......No bending........ three separate pieces and a base....... allows for butt joints....... and T Joints...... with the option of going Flat......... Vertical Up....... or Upside down.........I'm religious about practicing........ if that counts.......Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook...... Reply:No matter what process I am using I like to have a little more heat then I need. I would have put my amps at 65 to help wet in the toes.Other than that, they look good.Sent from under a Miller welding helmet
