Was wanting a 211 BUT.......

Ok yes another what welder, but any how I have been saveing for a 211 for my auto hobbys (do alot of rock crawler and mini trucks so lots of cages links etc) So got on CL and seen 2 welders that really cought my eye, A millermatic 140 for 350 110v, or a Lincoln 180 with tapped settings for 500 nib. Just looking in on some input right now. Want to add I in no way need the 110/220 mp I have 220 in my shop atm with a old tombstone on it, along with a 50ft extension cord.

Reply:I have a Miller 140 autoset and it is great for thin material. It runs best on a DEDICATED circuit and is used mainly for art work with .023 wire. My 211 is a great machine which I always run on 220. Like many say here you can't use amps you don't have. Using the 211 on 220 increases the duty cycle too. If I had to buy one and have  220 power the 211 is my choice. When you expand your hobby you'll be glad you bought the 211. The 211 using 75/25 is so much cleaner then stick it really has a nice appearance when done. Remember, that mig requires pretty clean material do to a good job so metal prep is important.

Reply:Uhm, yeah. That Miller rebate on the 211 is definitely a no-brainer. Weldersupply has a good price on the spool gun at $215, too, which you'd have no problem getting on eBay/CL for one. So, buy the 211 and two spool guns for $1500 shipped, sell the two spool guns for $400 (after eBay fees) and get the $400 Miller rebate. Total investment is $700. That's an amazing deal.
