TIG rig in my bay at work keeps blowing leaks at the hose connection at the head. Day shift maintenance guys have changed out rigs at least 3 times now and it keeps leaking. I cleaned the screen in the pump which was all plugged up, and that worked for a little while, but the dang thing started leaking again last night. Finally got the bright idea to just turn the pump off. Every time my foreman sees me messing with it he makes me move to a different bay, I don't like moving.I'm thinking the pump is defective. What do you guys think?
Reply:Many pumps have a built in relief valve. Someone may have adjusted it up too high. Mine is under a brass acorn nut on the pump housing.
Reply:I'll look into that!
Reply:Is the pump going bad and letting it get to hot? If you cleaned alot of crude off the screen maybe the lines in the pump on the return side are plugged with dirt also.
Reply:They finally changed the pump out yesterday, no more leaks. I looked around but didn't see a relief valve. It's a Coolmate 3, the specs say factory set relief valve, I dunno, they finally fixed it after dicking around with it for 2 weeks.
