Reply:The steel plates were just 1/8" x 4" flat, with 1/4" bolts & nuts. I welded it with lift arc off the Commander, 1/16" red, maybe 60A, 15cfh Ar. He didn't want it fully welded, because when this gig slows down I'm gonna have to cut it apart again to remove it. Then I will fully weld it back together. He contemplated having me build a chest from scratch, but it would have costed way more. He got this chest for $400, and he doesn't mind the dents, just functionality."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Nice work. I would have hated to cut up a big buck box like that. I had to cut something like that for a job, Big box small opening. Before cutting I centered flat stock entire length with predrilled holes for bolting on both sides of cut . Set in place and drill holes in cabinet. Cut and bolted together. Made line up easier.

Reply:I think you just described what I did. For some reason all of the pics didn't show up. Never saw that, sorry. Only the ones with the welds came in the first time. |
