Welding Confusion

Bought a Hobart 140 wire welder.  Pleased with the performance initially.  However, yesterday went to weld and unit didn't work.  Purchased a Chicago Electric welder for my son, it doesn't work either.  Ground clamps on both units are great, connections are solid, and the leads are pristine.  Gun(s) have only been used for (Hobart) less than 1 hour previously, and not at all on the other.  Metal being welded has been ground and all paint/rust is removed.  Neither welder will strike an arc to anything, including the ground clamp.  The electricity tests out perfectly at the outlet and the breaker, no extension cord is being used, and both fans and wire feeds work perfectly.  Liners appear to be ok.  Suggestions?
Reply:Hang garlic from door and call for an exorcism..lol.....try a different electrical device like a drill or grinder in the outlet and see if they work....I have a hobart 140 for many years and it works great no problems..Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:Have you tried it out on another circuit? Reply:Did you check the trigger wires from the whip to the machine? Some times they wiggle or get knocked loose. Aside from the fan can you hear any other noises when you pull the trigger?esab 260 multimasternew tech 150 invertorlincoln 140 cheapo
Reply:If one leg of your 220 was bad, you could have happened to test the welders on the same leg.
Reply:Thanks to all who replied.  Just happens that Hobart has a service facility here in town.  Took the welder over and found that a connection was faulty.  Checked the same thing on the CE welder and now both work.  Much to learn, but your assistance is appreciated.
