Anyone working with square tubing - Check out an inexpensive new square tube bender online at www.anscotool.com
Reply:I had a jd2 model 32 with a 1 " square tube die, which produced no deformation on the tube. Attached Images
Reply:Looks pretty flimsy for $995.00!The frame looks like it's made of 1/8" stock. The bends are ugly.
Reply:id like to see the dies, from what i cansee i could make that for $150.00Last edited by ed mac; 02-26-2010 at 09:21 PM.
Reply:The bends are POS quality. I am with Rdionne; you can get a die from JD squared to do the job right, for about $250. Add it tot he basic cost of the bender (Approx. $600 alone) and you have first class bends vs...... those things with the buckles in them. All I can say is, I am not building a playground for my sons or daughters out of tube bent by that thing.... and I sure as heck won't build a rack for a truck with one.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:Petron,The Off Road fabrication network forum has a good write up of tube benders titled: "JD2 Model3, Pro-tools 105, and JMR Benders Compared". It's at the following link.http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/...ead.php?t=1668

Reply:Originally Posted by dstevensThe 32 will bend larger tubing. At the very least you'll need the bender, die and something to mount it to.The OFN piece is a good comparison.
Reply:Another tube bending option is at the following link. It is an upright design that doesn't require the traditional floor mount. It can be moved into a corner when not in use if space is an issue. Manual bending is not an option on these benders.http://www.probender.com/
Reply:petron I bought the jd2 hydro model 32, ( already had a pump) it worked great & produced quality bends. what i didnt like was having to reposition the pin in the die to complete a bend however I am not knocking the tool it will do what it is supposed to,, just takes a bit to get there. I did sell it & bought a metalpro 9000 & then came across a ercolina multiform (medi bender 070) which blows them all away & suites all my needs up to 1 1/4 tube & 1 " sq
Reply:Your $3500 Ercolina blows away the Model 32? I'm stunned. All the horizontal benders I've seen/used have the pin issue. If petron is going to bend a lot of tubing having mechanical assist is the way to go. Over at Pirate 4x4 and OFN there are kits that people have used to add AoH capability to their manual benders that perform as well as the factory kits and cost a fair amount less. The ram JD2 offers is priced competitively for that ram but it's an expensive piece of gear in the first place. Petron, it sounds like for what and how much you bend a Model 32 will work well. Van Sant (Trick Tools) is good, I like Medford Tool. It typically takes a week or two to get your bender as JD2 seems to be always in demand. In most cases the dies are pretty much readily available.

Reply:It's a $1400 Harbor Freight pipe bender with square dies...
Reply:One of the amazing facts of life is that there will actually be a sucker who won't take the time to investigate all the tube bending options available and will end up buy this POC.
Reply:I'm with most of the other posters on this one. Those bends look like Fido's a**. For that price you could take your pick of several different real quality benders. Lot's of folks already mentioned the Protools or JD2, both very good machines producing much better results. The price shown would also get you started with a Hossfeld #2, (http://www.hossfeldbender.com/) but you'd still have to buy dies. But the one thing it offers over many other machines is versatility. Up to 2" sch 40 pipe or 2" round or square o.d. tube, plus a whole mess of other options depending on dies.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
