This is our first welding project.  I have browsed this forum for months & have taken a number of ideas from many different welding projects.  So this is a thank you to all those who unknowingly contributed to the final result. As a new welder I recently finished taking a 3 day mig welding class.  To get started my neighbor & I bought a Hobart 190 w/spool gun, a Hypertherm Powermax30 plasma cutter & Dewalt metal dry cut saw.Of course all those things needed to be mobile...we live 3 doors from one another, hence the cart.We decided on 1 3/4" square tubing, 1/8" wall.  I have access to the gas so I supplied the bottles. To start with we went with 100% co2 for the construction of the cart & then down the road once we get going with aluminum we have a cylinder with 100% argon.    Given the weight of not only the cart, but the welder, plasma cutter & saw, we used heavy duty tires in back with ball bearings rather than inflatable tires.  The front wheels are swivel casters. To avoid all those trips back to the shop for whatever, required a good sized drawer.  The drawer would have to hold some weight.  So heavy duty drawer guides.  We went with guides that could handle 75/100 lbs.I thought the handle on the drawer should be a statement.  I used 1 3/8" bolts with a 1 1/8" open end wrench.  The wrench was too long so we cutout 1 1/2" of it then welded it back together with bend in it.The drawer itself is 3/8" plywood with a tray that can slide back and forth for access underneath.I couldn't resist the finials on top of the uprights.  We also decided that all the connections for the welder, power cord, extension cord, grounding cable all needed a place to hang...the two saddles.  The plasma cutter came in handy cutting out the shapes for the saddles.Finally...I know Miller enthusiasts prefer blue, Lincoln is red...so to show proper respect to Hobart we went with BOMBER ORANGE and had it powdered coated.   Although the pictures are clear they don't do justice to the actual finish.  It's awesome!!! My neighbor, (there isn't anything this guy doesn't know or can't do well)  & I worked on it for about 10 days, not completely consumed, but close.I've posted some pictures of the cart's progress, not all of them, but enough to get the idea that the ideas came along as we built it.  Nothing was on paper, just a measurement here & there to be sure we would have enough room for all the equipment to go on the cart. What is not visible are the welds. Some were terrible, others were, I thought pretty good, and of course there were those that were passable.  What saved the cart from looking like a couple of amateurs put it together was all the grinding that went into it.  Any pro would have laughed at that.I've enclosed a few pictures that chronicle the process...Feel free to critiquesee more pics on next post
