I found this ad in my area for a Kira 1/4HP drill press: http://northbay.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-...AdIdZ190368120I have a crappy Canadian Tire drill press now that is very light and small. Anyone have any knowledge of Kira? All I could find is that it was a Japanese company that came to North America in the 50s and they made Milling machines & drill presses.Do you think I could make this into a stand up drill press? She told me the handle is about 2.5' from the ground now But I would like something more like 4.5', can I just add to or change the pipe?
Reply:I have to say that a 1/4hp motor sure doesn't sound like much to me. Maybe a handy little drill for some very light bench top work, but not something I would want to try and make something out of."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt |
