Reply:Hello Tyler, I've got one for my home machine and use it in conjunction with an older 110v Miller 30A feeder(this is a 4-roll old school feeder). As far as I am concerned it is a great machine, can be run on either 1ph or 3ph, multiple voltages. I have also used it with a Miller 30A spoolgun, works really well with that combo too. As the 400 hundred would imply this isn't a pansy machine, it has plenty of umph to get just about any sort of welding accomplished and also stick welds and GTAW welds with DC superbly. I am not necessarily a fan of the Thermal Arc feeders and that's why it's so nice to be able to use the Millers by simply plugging them in. If you are contemplating this machine or if you have picked it up already, I don't believe you will be disappointed. Best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:Thanks Allen. It's in regards to a CL add I found this morning. It's married up to a 60 series Miller wire feeder. It LOOKS like a nice setup. I really wanted to be able to TIG aluminum but the guy is asking $750 for the TA400gms and the miller feeder so I'm tempted to go this route and just get a spool gun for welding Al. I need to go call him and make sure it comes with all of the leads/torches for everything. doesn't come w/ gas but I have an old Helium cylinder in the back of my dads barn I'm going to try to trade in to save myself a little cash there too.Millermatic 135Syncrowave 250
Reply:Hello again Tyler, that machine is an inverter(around 86 pounds or so) and new I believe they sold for around 3200.00 to 3500.00, the 60 series Miller feeder is likely worth almost the 750.00 alone. I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up for that money, you will have a combination that will do any sort of welding that you care to tackle. Pick up a Miller 30A spool gun and you can also tackle a wide range of aluminum work. With the jobs that you can tackle with that combo you'll be able to afford a Tig machine in short order. Best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:That's kind of what I figured. I wont be using it specifically to make money, but I certainly wouldn't turn down some side jobs to pay for my tools. Anyway, I've got a call and email into the guy so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for your help.Millermatic 135Syncrowave 250

Reply:My Thermal Arc 300 GMS has been trouble free the 15-18 years I have had it. The machine runs Dual Shield wire like a dream besides being good with solid wire. |
