Reply:Looks like a Perkins mount starter. You need to know how many teeth the gear has.You sould be able to get a better Gear Reduction Starter for that motor.
Reply:That's a 10mt Delco on an F Continental.Since you have the end housing, any electrical shop could whip it into shape pretty cheap.NAPA has rebuilts in stock.I've posted the NAPA numbers previously, but I can't look right now.If you don't come up with a solution I'll dig up the numbers again.Good Luck

Reply:I ordered a starter from NAPA today. I took the old one in and he looked up a replacement by the numbers on the side of the starter. $106.00I tried Autozone and Advance Auto Parts with predictable results.
Reply:Good deal. Just remember that the stamped numbers are meaningless once motor parts get swapped around in the rebuilding process. Be interesting to check the numbers on the rebuilt starter's case. For the record:High mount 12v - 1107382Low mount 12v - 1109460I think...If NAPA would let you keep your core for a reasonable amount, it'd probably be worth it, because a starter shop would revive a 10MT for $35 or less. And one of these days the rebuilt starter may go obsolete, or the price skyrocket.Good Luck |
