Need to weld a heat exchanger from a yamaha RS Vector. Rear suspension mount chaffed through the exchanger. It is more weeping from the exchanger than running out ( small pores). The metal at this point is very thin and can not be built up as the suspension mount fits flush and tight against the cooler. My Question is. What process should be used (Tig or Braze) and what filler if tigged. Thanks RS
Reply:Tig would be so easy and fast. 4043 should work fine.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:I just did the exact same repair. I tig welded it with 4043. As soon as I put the heat to it a crack opened up. the crack was right in the recessed area. It is very thin but once it was clean it welded fairly good. The one I did also showed signs of cracking around the suspension mounting hole which I welded and ground down. It took a lot of weld with no filler and wire brushing until the metal was clean.Miller 180SDLincoln weld pak 180Hobart 250ciMill Lathe
