I'm looking to bend #6 rebar for an art project. I am looking for a ~4" CLR bend. The bend needs to proportioned the same throughout the bend. Has anyone made a home built bender that bends evenly? If so, could you post a picture? Thanks.
Reply:vice grip to table, vice grip on rebar, heat with torch, bend.
Reply:I built a bender to bend 1" solid to 90 degrees. It is on this forum some where. Took sooo much leverage to move it, i only used it once. Used hitch pins from TSC and machined dies. A Disposable hf compact bender might get it. Heat bars first. The texture might cause problems.Sent from my SPH-M830 using Tapatalk
Reply:Get one of those 12 ton Harbor freight pipe benders. Use one of the smallest dies and it will work fine.Miller xmt304, Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Esab 161lts miniarc.

The texture might cause problems. surely will electrical benders may do the job but if you have a big bunch that will be a pain in...the disposable thing with some modifications as a rubberised roller to let slip the texture on the lever side could work... trial and error as usual |
