180 versus 140 Mig welder??

Sorry to ask such a noob question, but I know nothing about welding.  My question is, is there anything that a 140 Mig welder can do, that a 180 can't?  I'm asking because I've been looking at welders and found a Lincoln Power Mig 180C from a private party at the same price as I can get a 140 welder at a retail store.  Plus, everyones been telling me to get a 220V welder, but I have some light stuff (Sheet metal) I need to weld too.Thanks all!!

Reply:About the only thing would be run on 110v power. The 180 would have more range in welding and most likely be the better choice. The 110v machines have their place, but it is very limiting if you plan on really trying to do anything more than put 2 pieces of metal together for something non structural. They make bolts for that.Good luck
Reply:Thanks folk.  I kind of figured there was nothing a 140 could do that a 180 couldn't since the voltage is adjustable.I guess, I'm going to drop some cash on a Power Mig 180c tomorrow.  I hope there's nothing wrong with the welder since I don't think it will have a warranty.
Reply:The 240V model will weld just a thin as the 120V model, so go for it.Twice the welder for 1/4 more cost.

Reply:The 240 volt is cheaper to run than a 115 volt.  I have a mvp or multi volt power so I am good no matter where i go, but welders most of the time work better at 240 volts at least that's been my experience for many years.
