Hi, I'm putting a homemade argon dryer between my bottle and a SyncroWave 250, and I need to pressure test it. I usually run argon at 17 CFH for almost everything. Does anyone know what my PSI is?(PS. I got the idea for the dryer on WeldingTipsAndTricks.com, except that I decided to go with all rigid parts, hard clear acrylic tube and decent threaded PVC connections. With my version it is easy to see the dessicant, empty it, and refill it. If it actually works and anyone is interested I can post some pictures and a parts list. HOWEVER, it requires you to use a lathe to turn down the acrylic tube to fit the PVC fittings, OR a mill to bore out the PVC fittings to accommodate the tube.)Last edited by kajonga; 04-07-2015 at 10:14 PM.
Reply:I've seen numbers from 25 to 50 psi static pressure, depends on the model.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Argon gets moisture in it? Never heard about that.I'm pretty sure the flowmeter that came with my Sync delivers ar at 50 psi.Last edited by Kelvin; 04-07-2015 at 11:03 PM.
Reply:the pressure depends entirely on the output stage of the regulator. When the solenoid shuts off flow pressure is going to rise to some point, you'll just have to measure it. Id guess it's not much more than 50psi...Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com

Reply:I had a regulator go funky on me one time (output was varying), after taking the regulator apart to see what was up I found moister in the regulator. After cleaning it all out it worked perfectly again.12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829
Reply:Thanks Gamble.
Reply:Yes, I get the ring (aka, beard, aka fuzz) at the end of my lanthanated after about 3 or 4 minutes of arc time. Sometimes the ring is yellow, like sulfur. Mostly it's just dark. Always crusty, you can't just wipe it off. It really does effect the shape of the arc, just as bad as a dip if you let it get big enough. Jamie said in the video this happens especially with "owner's bottles". |
