http://sacramento.craigslist.org/tls/4966731015.htmlI talked to this guy and he said they were used for formica laminate installation. So the glue is very tough......I'm about to get them for $30 bucks. Think sand blasting them would work? He tried gas/parts cleaner etc.Lincoln PowerMig 200AHP 200x 3rd Gen.Miller 211 AASMiller Digital Elite "POWMIA"Victor Oxy SetLotos ltp5000d
Reply:That's a steal! I wouldn't worry about removing the glue and I doubt sandblasting would do much good.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:I can't say for certain but grab them first, worry about how to clean them later.:
Reply:Too fine a thread on the screw for my liking. I only buy the Acme threaded clamps anymore. I would just use them and let the glue wear off.
Reply:i got some cheap clamps that came in a lot at an auction once. i thought, what will i ever do w/ these things. but i use them quite a bit for stuff, and don't need to worry about losing them. like if something breaks, and i'm to lazy to fix it properly, i'll just clamp it w/ one, and leave it clamped permantly. Also, if i'm hauling pipes or tubing on the racks of a pick up, i sometimes worry about the material sliding off forward if i got to stop quick. so i can put a clamp on the front of tube/pipe, loop a rope through them all, and tie it off.
Reply:Ya man get on those or I'm shipping them to Oregon!!!
Reply:hahaha....yeah i figured i'd get em and just figure it out. Gotta love craigslist.Lincoln PowerMig 200AHP 200x 3rd Gen.Miller 211 AASMiller Digital Elite "POWMIA"Victor Oxy SetLotos ltp5000d

Reply:As long as the glue doesn't interfere with the function (ie binding up the threads), I would leave it as is. Maybe use a wire wheel to remove larger lumps???Andrew

Reply:I dunno...maybe if there wasn't a small clamp to be found anywhere about the place, and one needed a bunch of 'em right now.Otherwise, isn't the cost within chump change of new price for the Chinese no-name clamps? And that'd be for new, clean-N-straight, whenever you need 'em.I'd say pass.Last edited by denrep; 04-12-2015 at 03:37 PM.

Reply:Your eyes are gooder than mine. They do look to be Chinese cheapos on closer inspection. I made the mistake of buying cheap C clamps only once. Good for not much more than wood work.
Reply:Yeah they are beat to ****. Passed......oh well doesn't hurt to try. I'll buy afew more f clamps at HF to curb my need for now lol.Lincoln PowerMig 200AHP 200x 3rd Gen.Miller 211 AASMiller Digital Elite "POWMIA"Victor Oxy SetLotos ltp5000d |
