I came across one of my neighbors selling this Work-A-Matic bandsaw. He is asking $700 I was wondering if it was worth it or should I pass. It looks to be in decent condition, maybe needs a new power cord.
Reply:I'd low-ball him.One of my catalogs shows a similar machine listing for over $4K.Rex
Reply:I got it for $500 I will post up some more pictures later. I am not sure about the power I think it is 3 phase. Not sure what i got myself in here......

Reply:If the motor is 3 phase no big deal, you can get a single phase input 3 phase output VFD to run the motor which will also give you the ability to vary the speed of the saw depending on what you are cutting. I have a VFD on my lathe and milling machine and wouldn't want to work with out it. Look up either Automation Direct or Teco to find a reasonably priced decent VFD.

Reply:Yes it's 3 phase. That looks like a sweet deal.Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride! |
