I was going through some of my Dad's old tools and I run across a couple that I have never seen before.  I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they are. Attached Images
Reply:Can't see the business end of the top one very well, but it looks kind of like some sort of spanner wrench.Bottom ones look like tubing flaring tools. The soldering toys pay for the welding toys.Hakko 928 dual iron, 4xHakko 936Madell 850D Hot Air SMT ReworkMiller 252, HTP Invertig 201 AC/DC, and a Hypertherm 45.
Reply:the bottom picture those are flaring tools for tubing..I really can't make out the first tool?..can you get a clearer picture?..
Reply:Spanner (wrench) of some kind for the first one.The second pic is tube flaring tools.  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:The 1st pict is of some type of spanner used to turn something. Hard to tell just what from the pict. The 2nd is a flaring tool used to make flares in tube to make connections. Frequently used in older plumbing jobs, gas lines and on brake lines. You slide the flare nut down the tube, and then clamp the part with the holes around the tube in the hole that matches the pipe. The end of the tube is usually even with the face of the clamp. Then the saddle with the tapered end (installed on the clamp on the left in the pict) on the screw get it centered over the end of the tube and then the handle is turned to press the taper down on the tube forming the "flare"..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Dont use the flare tools on brake lines.Brake line needs to be double flared.  Gives a much stronger flare and not prone to edge cracking.Ford uses a different type of brake connection.  I think its a ball type flare.
Reply:You can buy a special little pice that fits into the flare tool to create double flares.safety last

Reply:The first pic might be a handle (or gizmo) for opening the old style 5 gallon buckets, the metal ones with metal lids, and yes the second pic is of tube flaring tools.Nctox,  Stickmate LX  235AC/160DC  HH210
Reply:The first one looks like a flywheel turner but the pic is kinda dark. Also looks like you are missing the dies for the tubing flaring tools. They are small steel dies should be one for each size hole.Last edited by BlindViper; 11-07-2009 at 12:04 AM.
Reply:I'd agree with the flywheel turner BlindViper.  If you save the photo and lighten it up you can see it better.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:The first one looks like a pipe bender. The end of the straight part opposite the handle is hollow; the upper, curved part would ride on the outside of the pipe. The length of the handle would provide leverage. I am guessing.

Reply:1'st one is used to tighten the "nut" on the chrome drain in your kitchen sink.
