Well, After getting this unit for FREEEEE from a friend (because he knew it's the one I wanted in the first place), I have to say it cuts like a champ! I really like it. It sure beats a chop saw. Far less mess and silent when compared to the chop saw too (obviously).It is rather heavy but it does cut a pretty straight line as long as the pieces I'm cutting get c-clamped to the table tight and secure. I will definately buy the Milwaukee band saw table option soon. That should really help with the cuts. I give the saw 5 stars. So far the blade has not come off and installation was a breeze. It's really a tough and powerful machine. So far I've cut 1x1 squate tubing at 1/8" and up to 4x4 square tubing at just under 1/8" thickness. Today I cut up some solid 1/2" rod that seemed to be pretty hard. Much harder than 1/2" plain old rebar, that's for sure. I also cut some 1/4" steel plate and it cut through like a hungry Godzilla tearing up downtown Tokyo. I think for the weekend weld-warrior at the house or even at a job site, this powerful saw fits the bill. Obviously it ain't no good table band saw, but it is what it is. I would definately buy this machine if the current one got stolen!!!! Reply:I agree.I just picked up a nice one on Craigslist for $75.I also bought a new 1/2" Milwaukee HD hammer drill for $50 and a used Milwaukee Hole Hawg (HD right angle 1/2" drill) for $50.That was this weeks Craigslist scores.Last week I bought a Miller Spoolmatic 30a spool gun with the wc-24 controller in great shape for $500.I am a Craigslistaholic!
Reply:Glad to hear it's working out well. They are darned good cutting machines when matched with the right blades. And they will cut straight if you do your part.Milwaukee still makes good stuff and if you ever do wear it out parts are easy to get. You'll probably go through some of the rubber blade belts and break off the guide piece that butts against the material when cutting. It kinda hangs out there in the wind and begs to be snapped off.
