Making a 6'x4' American flag for my dad.  Just got my PM45 on friday so decided I'd get started.  This was all cut by hand so no CNC and was the first time I ever used a plasma.  It's not perfect but he'll still like it.50 stars cut out by hand was not that fun  .  Tomorrow after a trip to the steel yard I'll make the frame and get started on the bars.  Going to heat them and bend them a little to look like it's flying.  Hopefully that turns out ok.  More pics to follow. The start:

Reply:Partially welded up the frame today.  Started bending the bars to give them that wave look and ran out of acetylene on my second bar...  Oh well back at it thursday.
Reply:Looking cool. Did you cut them out with a straight edge of any kind? I see that last "oh crap I'm out of room" row there. Haha.
Reply:Great hands, even tho a few look like Patrick from spongebob squarepants. I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Reply:Looks pretty darn good for doing them by hand, wow!  I doubt I would be that steady!  Your dad will surely understand all you went through to make it and appreciate it very much!"All of this and some of that's the only way to skin the cat!"
Reply:Like everyone else says...very steady hands. I always dread having to use my plasma...starting to get the shakes as I grow older. I promised myself that in my next lifetime (when I'm rich...and handsome)...I'll own a table like half the guys on here have. Reply:I like this.....I think I'll draw one up and cut it from a full 4 x 8 sheet on my cnc plasma.....reinforce around the perimeter. Need an 8' wide gate for one of the horse paddocks.  This will take about 10 minutes to draw in CAD, maybe another 10 or 12  minutes to cut from 3/16" plate.Jim Colt

Reply:Small update got the millscale stripped off of it and it sanded down with 150 grit today.  Should be ready for the patina now and hopefully it comes, still no shipping notification.Stripped:Polished:
Reply:Very nice work, Red!GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Copper pantina didn't exactly turn out like I thought.  I must have had contamination in the steel in spots that made it turn black.  Used a combo of the copper and rust. Here it is.  Clear is still wet but put some light on it to make it pop and show better of how it actually looks in real life.
Reply:Turned out nice! Will you post more pics when it is set up? It would look great with a white background and some spot lighting for the night. Looks nice!
Reply:It turned out real nice. Your dad will love it. Very steady hand. What gave you the idea to do this?
Reply:A lot of work but it sure paid off .  Looks goodJweld he said he got the idea off the hyper-therm website I believe. BTW DAMN FINE JOB RED ! ! ! ! !  but my sig prolly gives away my bias LOLGOD, GUNS,& GUTS Made America Free
Reply:good job for doing that by hand! looks great
Reply:Thanks for the compliments he really liked it.  Yeah, Hypertherm posted a picture of a flag on their facebook that someone cut out.  It looked like theirs was cut from a solid sheet but I was up to the challenge lol.
Reply:It looks real good! great idea.
