Any thoughts? I'm getting the impression that the Jackson Balder ($305) has a more true blue color and the speedglas ($393) has green tint. I tend not to like green tint when welding. Anyone try both of these? Would love to hear your experience and opinions. Reply:I like the Jackson. It's not my go to hood but I like it.The speedglass was really nice too. But yes more green ish and Jackson is blue. The ck helmet is also very nice and the view is like the speedglas and costs less.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:I love my Jackson , Haven't used the speedglass. if you look at many of Jody's more recent videos on welding tips and tricks or Lances on chucke2009. You will notice they are both using the Jackson bh3 as their hood of choice. From many they own. Just watch for that yellow frame the lens. The smart tigger is the same color lens in standard size viewing area for less than half the priceLast edited by soutthpaw; 04-01-2015 at 03:48 AM.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:OMG used the Jackson for the first time today. What a helmet! No green tint. Nice true color and crystal clear. It so helps to see the weld puddle. Went from a $49 Harbor Freight auto darkening helmet to the Jackson. Wondering why I waited so long to get something decent.Millermatic 211Lincoln Precision TIG 225Century 250 MIGLincoln 225 AC Box (sold)I support my local welding store (Amazon, McMasterCarr, Cyberweld, EBay).

Reply:In that case I don't think the BH3 is worth double the priceJust good enough aint good enoughIf your gonna be a bad welder you better be a darn good grinder
Reply:Southpaw,Does the safetigger or bh3 have a test mode for checking to see if AD MODE IS WORKING. THANKS,Raf

Reply:Ive got the balder and all I can say is WOW. After moving over from a miller digital elite the difference is night and day. Its truly an amazing hood. When stick welding I can see a full 6-8 inches ahead of the puddle and see where i'm going. Its super useful for welding up cracks in buckets.
