Noticed there were a few valentines day gifts being made I'm working on one myself here's some picsSo far Hearts all welded up and cleaned upNow going to engrave something in the the ribbon, and put a grain in the brassThat's where I'm at so far going to make a small stand or something for it will keep yous updated
Reply:Hey, CJ.That's pretty amazing! I like it and I'm sure your wife/girlfriend will love it.I would not have thought of stamping it and welding it, but then I don't have a press either. I'm working on something similar by tigging two heart shape pieces together with a 3/4" spacer. Looks pretty good so far. I'm thinking of having it engraved, if the weather clears up enough to get it done by Friday. I'll post a picture of it later today or tomorrow. I'm going to leave it as a paperweight or something instead of a stand.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:thanks burt! i hope my girlfriend likes it!.. if not then oh well i had fun making it lol.. deffantly post some pics up, i'd like to check it out! i dont know if you have a store near you called things remembered, but i know there is a bunch of them out there, they do engraving and can probably engrave what you want as long as it can be held in their machines the store is usually held in shopping malls.... i'll be doing the engraving my self with one of the CNC machines at work as long is one of them if freed up for a few min. im sure your woman will love it!
Reply:Great idea, it looks great. Has very smooth finish and the engraving will make it more special and personalized. It will definitely last for a long time. I think she will like it.
Reply:Thanks man, I'm going to put a better finish on it and the brass that was just a quick test fit/ idea to see if that's how I liked it, going to engrave it tomorrow will post more pics tomorrow

And yea I don't know what in gunna do next year lol, and I took 3 pieces of 3/32 stainless filler rod put them together and clamped one end inside a vice and pulled tight and put the other end in a hand drill, tightening them in the chuck and pressing the button and watch it spin, and it spins it nice and tight to give it that rope look

Reply:Exquisite work with the heart, base and your choice of engraved words.  Could you enlighten me on what it takes to make a die to stamp something like the heart.  I have a need to make 1/3 scale duck heads to be stamped out of 24 gauge mild steel.  I am sure I do not have the equipment to do it, whatever that might be; so what would I expect to pay a tool and die guy to make a set of dies? Thanks Alan. Some kind of Big Blue constant current welding machineAnother smaller yet, Blue machine (it's got wire in it)
Reply:Hey CJ great job.  Love the base and inscription also.  What all is required machine, tooling wise to make dies to stamp something small like the heart?  I have a need to do so.Some kind of Big Blue constant current welding machineAnother smaller yet, Blue machine (it's got wire in it)
