Reply:Nice job!If you ever make another it's simpler to use baffles with cut corners rather than drilled out centers.  Simply cut a 45 degree angle out of the upper and lower corners (about 2" on the vertical leg).  Simpler, allows both fuel and air to flow, and less labor.Nice welding.  It's nice to have the ability to do thinner material.  I had to make my big tank out of 10ga so I could stick it.  With 160gal of diesel in it weight is around 1100lbs ROFLMAO"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:OK,  I've looked at the photos four or five times, I gotta ask...   How did you weld in those baffles?  I'm thinking you had to reach into the tank from each end.  I can't imagine how difficult that would be to TIG weld in that position.  Thanks for posting,  nice job.  I admire the hell out of you guys that can do that stuff.Lincoln Precision TIG 185.Flex-Loc 150 torch.Super-Flex hose.Lincoln MIG 180.Victor Oxy/Act torch set.DeWalt Bandsaw with SWAG stand
Reply:What is the gallon capacity of your tank.  Looks good

Reply:Whats the reason for the size?I considered chopping one up and glueing back together myself.
Reply:tank and baffles are 16 ga. I mig welded the baffles in place inside. tig welding was not an option as the weld surface was 30" inside the 6" wide tank. It was a mission to weld that center baffle. the purpose for the size is; this tank sits in the front of the bed of a truck, infront of an inset toolbox. from outside the truck, the tank and toolbox are not visible. it is an approx. 24 gallon tank, which doubles the capacity of my customers truck. Daily i weld anything from .016-.049 321 stainless and .025-.032 3003 alumn., so getting to weld 16 gauge (roughly .080) was different for me. Most people have trouble getting used to welding thin material, I weld thin all day, and takes a bit to get used to the thicker stuff.Last edited by sausage450r; 02-15-2014 at 04:17 PM.'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems

Reply:Nice job and looks great. You gotta do what the customer wants and can afford. What they want and how much they want to spend determines what they get.

Reply:you are right, it is 14 gauge (tank and baffling). I brain sharted when I posted it over here. I rarely speak in gauge speak, I'm used to talking in fractions. really need to learn my gauge conversions. good to see a fellow gd.comer is also a weldingweb rock star. I'd love to pick your brain sometime on lincoln mig welders. They seem to have so much more adjustment/fine tune capability, been looking at the 256 @ welders supply, After owning a miller 251 I don't know that I want any of miller's new stuff'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
