Out Of Focus/Blurry Miller Digital Elite Tig Welding

Hi everyone.  I am newbie welder with TA185 and Miller Digital Elite helmet practicing on mild steel.  I'm not sure why but my vision becomes blurred if I don't keep approximately 10-12 inches away from the weld puddle.  If I get closer than 10" to the puddle, everything is out of focus and I have a hard time seeing the weld puddle. I am sure it is the welding helmet, I don't have a problem with eyes (had them checked recently).  Is it necessary to stay 10-12" away from the puddle so the lens field of view stays in focus?Thanks in advance!!

Reply:Put some NEW clear plates between your filter lens...I had the same problem last week......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I find that especially with MIG, the plastic cover plates get a kind of haze on them that really distorts your vision. It's not always that easy to notice unless you take it out. It's king of like trying to weld with a clear cellophane wrapper still on the lens.

Reply:Are you over 40? If so, your eyes are starting to do what most men over 40 eyes do. It starts off periodically but over time happens more often. My eyes are starting to do it from time to time.
