Hi all - I am trying to put together a sandblasting setup. Harbor Fright cabinet,5hp, single stage, 60 gallon compressor. I'll be using a pressure assist pot.I'd like to know the diameter of the hose feeding the gun? I'd like to use a pedal to control the blast. Any ideas? Thanks!
Reply:HI You want at least a 1/4" inside diameter hose. You need to look at all the components in the air path As the smallest part will effect the air-flow. Increase the air pressure will help the volume coming out of the tip. Static air pressure is not the same as air pressure when the gun is in use.Attached is a picture of the foot air controller I built (another guy's idea) that works great. But will the HF blast cabinet gun you will need to lock the trigger on when using a foot controller (hose clamp works fine). have funTom Attached Images
Reply:Thanks accourtjester. Many thanks as well for the very cool pedal. Never would have thought of building one with the link at the heel end of the pedal.
Reply:Might want to check out the following sites for some good info:www.contractortalk.com/f95www.clemcoindustries.comwww.tptools.comAny particular reason you want to use the pressure pot? Its going to use a lot of air and make recycling your media more harmful to you and a way bigger pain than just getting a proper "industrial" sized siphon gun and having a screen in the bottom of your cabinet.
Reply:Its not a bad idea if he can clear the dust. Pressure pots are 5x faster than siphon feed units. |
