I bought a fairly new helmet 7 years ago from brainfarth on here, and it worked well up until several months ago when it began using batteries up rapidly. Has anyone else experienced this with these helmets?Should I try Panasonic instead of eveready batteries? Looks like the shoulder height is the only difference. I can pull the batteries partially out so there is no drain and that gets me back to normal usage, but what a hassle. It is tempting to place a micro toggle switch in the battery circuit.Any suggestions? Thanks,Dan LMiller Syncro 250 tigrunnerLincoln 175 migO/A
Reply:Mine Miller Elite is about the same age. I did have issues with EverReady. Went and got the Panasonic and has been working great ever since. It is weird though that there is a difference.
Reply:Mine seems to eat batteries if I store it in a dark place, say the truck box during the week between classes. If I leave it in the cab instead, the batteries seem to last quite a long time. Never really paid all that much attention to what batteries I've used, though maybe I should look into this. Radio Shack is on the way to the school, so I'll often just swing in and grab a pair if they are starting to die and I've forgotten to get ones before that..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I have one elite that is about roughly 8 years old I got it about 6 years ago I have never changes the batteries in it. I have 2 spare batteries in my truck for it. My other elite is 2 years old original batteries my Lincoln viking hood goes through batteries every two years. I leave my hoods on the front seat of the truck so they can charge. I learned that lesson with a cheap hood and flash burn by leaving it in my job box when not in use.Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.
Reply:I have an Elite about 8 years as well.  I get about a yearish out of the batteries and I keep it in the dark all the time when not in use.  I used Energizers last time but bought Panasonics this time (a month or so ago).
Reply:There was a bulletin from Miller stating that Panasonic batteries should be used because other brands are differently shaped and may have problems making contact.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
