any and all info about this forker i bought

I bought this fork yesterday, i needed a bigger one than my 2000lb. cap. three wheeler. so I found this one for $700....and it is BIGGER  any one know what model it might be? It is a Yale where might i find the ID tag? looks repainted and probably painted over the tag. (I can't find one) It is a 6 cyl. eng, and gas. i was told it is a Continental but again no ID tag. everything works great except the engine, I can't get high rpm (backfires) starts and idles fine. would love to get info so i know what engine i'm working on .... Reply:Looks EXACTLY like one I used to have to use at a former job. If the starter is on the left, battery on the right and leaks fluid everywhere. Ours was also repainted... former USN equipment. Where are you located?  try looking on the back of the starter battery rack?any numbers stamped on the top side of the frame below the hood panels?I can remember in the 7th grade my mom said "people will offer you drugs" by the 10th grade I was like, "where the hell are these people?"

Reply:as your sitting in the seat, the starter is on your right and battery is also on right side. Manifold and down draft carb also on right side. I heard chrysler  had some 6 cyl. in forks, i wonder if it is a chrys. and not a continental....This don't leak anything, tires are real good, looks like it was taken care of. (somewhat anyhow) What do you guy's mean by TOW Motor??? was that a type of yale?
Reply:TOWMOTOR was a forklift company. Bought out by CAT in 1965. Reply:this is for sure a YALE fork, as the word YALE is cut into the  back. I got the number 1ND30 off the engine, does that sound like a chrysler???  I know it does not sound like a continental, as i have owned several....Guy i bought it from said it was a continental though, he also said it weighed 8000 lb. Now i don't think so, i think it has a lifting cap. of 8000 and weighs abound11000.

Reply:the slant 6 was a great motor, but it's no slant 6, i will do some googleing and see what i can find on the 1960ish chy. mill....
Reply:O.K. now i'm getting someplace..... It is a Chrysler engine, seller said "It's a continental"  It is a 230 industrial "L" 6 flathead. now it will be ez to find some info on timing and other things.....Great job guy's....
Reply:In some regions/locations any forklift may be called a "towmotor".

Reply:Well I put new plugs in, took the distributor  apart cleaned up the points, cleaned and inspected the manual advance mech. changed air filter, and gas filter, fired it up and ran perfect..... all i have left to do is fix (replace) the master brake cyl. ......Now i can start cleaning up the trail blazer 250 that i bought today for $780, and hopefully sell for a profit...
