hey guys,I own a BOC smooth arc advance 200c MIG welder. In the settings you can set the volts on its own but then when you change your wirespeed the volts change in accordance with whats needed for that wire speed reletive to your pre-set volts. I mostly weld steel from a few mm upto 12 or 15mm and 3-6mm aluminium only a few times. What i would like explained is how do i know what voltage to set on its own to start of with? i know that once its set up, to change from thin steel to thicker you only have to change the wire speed as that will set the volts with it, but im not sure on what i should set my volts at on its own before i go using the joint wire speed n volts knob together.Hope that makes sense.thanks chad
Reply:I have had limited experience with BOCs new range of inverter migs and the one's I have used were big 3 phase and the little gas less caddy. For both of them you had to set all the parameters on the machine. So things like wire diameter, material, desired weld size, and a couple of others I can't think of at the moment.
