This is the big duck blind my boss wanted. I finished it and installed it yesterday. This was the biggest blind I have ever built.(8' wide 12' long 7' high) I didn't take any pics of the installation because we bogged down just about everything we had trying to get it in place, and didn't think about the camera at the time. I have 10 pictures to post, so it may take awhile. Attached Images

Reply:I'm no duck hunter or blind builder but wouldn't the summer heat down in  Louisiana make that all metal duck blind be uncomfortable to sit in?Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
Reply:Man that looks sweet!  Many a duck shall be slayed from within that blind Good job!
Reply:Yes it would, but we hunt in the winter, which would make that steel cold. He plans to put a small stove for heat or for cooking Originally Posted by flux core joeI'm no duck hunter or blind builder but wouldn't the summer heat down in  Louisiana make that all metal duck blind be uncomfortable to sit in?
Reply:Yes it came nice. This year was nothing to brag about, so he's hoping next year will be better.  Originally Posted by jeff scottMan that looks sweet!  Many a duck shall be slayed from within that blind Good job!
Reply:I think "bunker"  or pill box might be a more appropriate description... Even comes with an over head splinter shield.  .No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Bunker was what I first thought of when I saw the hand print he brought me, and then starting explaining that it was a duck blind. He told me he saw one that had sleeping quarters in it.  Originally Posted by DSWI think "bunker"  or pill box might be a more appropriate description... Even comes with an over head splinter shield.
Reply:Well if he decides not to hunt out of it he could always make a bbq pit out of it!Nice job!Miller trailblazer301gLincoln sa200Miller251Miller spectrum 625Victor oxy-acc2002 Chevy duramax 3500 dually 4x4
Reply:Nice job. I am assuming the bump out at the end is for the dog?????  No flip up/out cover so I guess your boss will merely brush-in the top along with the rest of the blind. Did you pop it in a powder coat oven prior to? He will have all the comfort there especially with a heater.  Good place to cook breakfast, And sealed to keep the snakes out if it stays in the field off season.  Always wanted to hunt cajun country either the flooded timber or rice fields.GeezerPower Mig 255C185 TIGBlue 175 MIGRanger 8 Kohler 20HP1974 5K Lincoln/Wisconsin Powered (Cherry)Victor/Harris O/AK 487 Spool Gun

Reply:You might want to keep some extra food rations in case of a fallout or apocalypse..."I thank God for all the freedoms we've got in this country, I cherish even the right to burn the flag, but I'll tell you what, we've also got the right to bear arms and if you burn my flag I'll shoot you"-Johnny Cash
Reply:Thanks, and yes the bump is for the dog, and no on the powder coat, 2 coats of oil base primer is all he wanted. He said that will out last him. It's in the middle of a rice field with several thousand surrounding him. Originally Posted by geezerNice job. Reply:Thanks, and I would have taken some pictures, but after getting stuck trying to get it where he wanted it, it was getting late and the rain was coming and I forgot, sorry. Originally Posted by CraboVery nice.  I would love to see some pictures of it installed.
Reply:He is having some covers made to keep wasps and snakes and even deer out. He had a small track hoe and a 6000lb, 4X4 skytrac, and tractor with a front end loader. As for the coating, only 2 coats of primer. The wasps and water mocassins are gonna LOVE that place during the summer time. What kind of equipment was used during the install? I'm thinking at least a track hoe or 2 and maybe a small dozer.

Reply:It takes a brave sob to face down a mean butted duck and only have a twelve gauge, LOL.Great work.  What surprised me though is someone is going to pay for that material and your time and not spend the twenty five cents per pound to have it hot dip galvanized.life is good
