Lincoln software updates

Hey guys...... No question here, but I thought I'd share my experiance with you all.    The other evening I updated the software in my PM-300, and Invertec 350, on Lincolns website.. I haven't done much welding since, so cant give any reports, but it blows my mind that we can hook our welders to the Internet!!!  I hope they didn't catch some wierd kind of ITD...(internetly transmitted dieses)..    Have a safe NEW YEAR!!!!!      And TX... Hope you heal up soon...We need to protect Freedom of Speech, otherwise, how would we know who the A-holes (like me) are.
Reply:thanx BB for the info and the kind thoughts.   I dint know you actually could hook the welder to the internet wow .   I had heard it was possible and all,  but dint think it was in any way mainstream like on pm 300's  wow.   have a safe new year to you too and yes safety firstIF it Catches...Let it Burn

Reply:Heck, everytime I hook my 80s model dialarc to the internet to get updates, sparks fly and telephone service goes out all over west georgia  .  For me, the hardest thing was finding a tweco-to-rj11 adapter.I am just trying to upgrade my single phase transformer welder into a three phase inverter welder  Miller support said to throw it in cold water and see if it shrinks.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.

Reply:Haven't used it much since the update, but noticed a few things, My pm300 was the first one sold on the west coast , so if your is newer, it may have a more recent software version than mine.   It now has a cool little led on the voltage , that indicates  higher or lower than the synergic setting...I dont need it, I seem to always run it a bit hotter anyways. But it helps my guys that are not as familier with it.  It seemed to fine tune the pulse program for steel....already great, but i just did some pulsed spray transfer, and it was just awesome!.. maybe no change? seemed different though...  The update is also supposed to tune the alum programs, but I have'nt had a chance to check'em out.  I'm thinking about calling Lincoln to ask about all the particulars, If i do.. i'll post what they tell me...   After using it, though.. Go ahead and do it.. It saves your old settings, and you can revert the update. Reply:I updated the PM300 and the V350ap a couple of weeks ago.  I got an error message during the update of the V350 and then it eventually said that the update was ok.  I've welded with both of them since and can't really tell any difference.  Lincoln said they will send me a .030 4043, .025 steel procedure for the V350 but I haven't followed up on it yet.

Reply:Message to LINCOLN : bring back the sp-250 mig, or the sp255 . THEY were computerized. i've never needed any "software update. "  AND, NOT having to mess with voltage dial or wire speed knob, is teriffic. WHY did you go backwards , and discontinue them ? I doubt any body at LINCOLN has the guts to answer me, but I bet if the FOUNDER , MR. Lincoln was still alive , HE would answer .

Reply:You may be right about delicacy, but knobs are NOT easier to adjust , gloves or no gloves . Or am i the only one who finds a simple tap on the pad "easy". ?  Gloves on or not . Maybe others like the more difficult knobs. i get great settings with just a tap up or down.One tap & the volts and amps(wire speed )  are set . So simple that it's too difficult for weldors who haven't used one too believe . But, if one doesn't like the settings , you can set your own parameters. Oh , well , i'm happy with mine , just wish i had a spool gun with it .
