http://www.burlybrand.com/dragbars/B28-4023.aspxI am trying to make a set of bars similar to these...how do i notch the risers? they have a radius in them. I have a notcher, but with the radius i cant clamp it to notch it
Reply:Seriously? If you can't figure out how to do a simple notch, how do you intend on fabricating the rest of it?it's only 1.5" thin wall tube, just use a grinder.
Reply:You could make a Belt -Miter http://modikoso.com/nav/documents/be.../beltmiter.htm

Reply:What are you using? shedule 80 pipe???If it's under .250, it is thin wall.If your not skilled enough with a grinder than you need a better notcher capable of notching tube on a bend.
Reply:a grinder is unacceptable
Reply:Actually on 2nd thought. I'm pretty sure that I could make radish roses a grinder..Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:I think there is some info floating around the internet about all the angles needed using a chop saw with all different dia tube/pipe and different intersecting angles.....but being you already bent the pipe BEFORE you realised you werent going to be able to notch it, I think there are notching programs that will print out the cut line on paper and you wrap it around the pipe to act as a guide.....then the grinder IS your friend

Reply:If you can't bend with a notch, nor notch with a bend and you are unwilling to do the layout and grind the notches on the bent ends then the only thing left is to notch a straight pipe and cut it off squarely behind the notch. Then bend the tubes and cut the end off squarely at the point which allows for the length of the cut off notch. Weld the end of the bent tube and cut off notch together and metal finish the weld to your satisfaction.Otherwise it seems you are SOOL. Reply:I don't know how close to NH you are, but my notcher will work post-bend. Feel free to use it if you are close enough.Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line. |
