Reply:Nice work. Are the sides AR plate?
Reply:Looks good, did you replace the cutting edge or just build it up. What size machine looks like maybe a pc300?
Reply:The sides are hardox 500, we had a piece on hand. The wear bars on the bottom are Ar. Cutting edge didn't get replaced, just built up. Machine is a Pc400
Reply:Looks pretty good!
Reply:Thanks guys
Reply:What process did you use to button it up???Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:Was using solid .045 wire in the miller xtreme suitcase wire feeder. I've heard before it's better to use duel shielding flux core wire?

Reply:The edge was still in good shape? The top side of the shanks were likenew, bottom was worn so I built them up with hard face and added 4" strips of ar in between. Should get plenty more digging from it and them it will be replaced.

Reply:Thanks! The wear bars were cutting off with a torch. Definitely some scalloping going and your right it's because of the edge thinning. I blame opperator abuse. The bucket has dug nothing but blasted ledge and was just past 1 year since a fresh rebuild. He must have used the bucket to doors of grading of the ledge floor, only the bottom side of the edge was worn. I welded 1" thick ar wear bars in between the adaptors on the bottom side. Still got the scalloping but should wear for awhile
Reply:In the Klondike gold fields the inside of the bucket generally wears out before the wear bars on the back of the bucket. We had a PC400 feeding the sluice plant at 400 yards an hour and every spring was bucket rebuild time. |
