I am getting ready to purchase a welder. These are my two options. I want the 180 version so i can get a spool gun and do aluminum, and i want 220v. Here is a link to the two welders. My question is there is a 180c or 180t version. I was thinking the 180c sounded better but i honestly have no clue at all between the difference of constant voltage and tapped voltage or which is better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Or any recommendations on any other welders also.Thankshttp://cgi.ebay.com/LINCOLN-POWER-MI...QQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.com/LINCOLN-POWER-MI...QQcmdZViewItemLast edited by ZTFab; 01-30-2007 at 10:45 PM.
Reply:The c stand for continuous or variable voltage (the knob is like a volume control), the T is tapped and the knob locks into preset positions. The tapped is simpler electronically, the variable is a bit more complex. For 40 bucks more, you get to fine tune your voltage setting. Do you really need it? Personally I dont think you do, but for 40 bucks, you get a little more bling and you dont have to worry about wishing for that one tap inbetween.. I also noticed they dont mention the number of taps available.. I'd just go ahead and get the C model.. Reply:Lyrikz....For a short answer to your question, I'd go with the continuous (180C) model. For more opinions and in depth responses, do a search for continous or tap voltage controls. There has been a lot of discussion about it.- Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:I would get continuous. It is what I have now and couldn't imagine having the tapped."Common sense is not very common"http://www.tahoekeyshome.com

Reply:Agreed. I have the 180C and it is great. I am not a huge fan of tapped machines but that is just me. |
