I am looking at buying a hardly used 1 year old 7x12 HF bandsaw for $300-$350..I actually purchased a new 4x6 HF bandsaw on New Years Day for $172 after all discounts and coupons..... Then after reading about the 4x6 it appears to be a decent tool requires tweaking and some add-ons to make it really functional...So I am thinking of returning the 4 x 6. I have searched for reviews and opinions on the 7 x 12 and there is not a lot to be found.  What do you guys think of this saw for a home shop?  Its a heavy beast for sure. What would be the easiest way for two men to get this monster in the back of a f250?  Somehow the plastic wheels have flat spots making rolling it very difficult so pushing or pulling it up some 2x6's seems out of the question. Please let me know your thoughts as I am supposed to pick it up on Friday or Saturday.Last edited by woodtick007; 01-12-2011 at 05:47 PM.
Reply:The 7x12 appears to be better built than the 4x6.  300-350 is a good price for one with very little use.Best way to get it into and out of a truck safely is with some type of mechanical lift.   2 guys with good backs, proper lifting technique would also work. The saw weighs about 300-315 lbs.  Website says shipping weight is 339 lbs.
Reply:I would knock off the crappy wheels and build a custom dolly for it that can support the weight and use that to roll it up a ramp into the truck. Then you have the dolly to move it around the shop. You get what you put in and people get what they deserve...
Reply:I would just unbolt everything - you're going to end up 'tweaking' it anyway, and smaller pieces are easier to lift.Weld well; grind less.
Reply:I would just rent a Uhaul trailer.  $20 for the day here.
Reply:I looked at the HF, but went to Northern Tool and got this one.  Just make sure this use the 3/4' blade and not a 1/2".  I'm thinking the HF used the 1/2" and thats why I went to Northern Tool.http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...5544_200365544
Reply:I would get the 7 x 12 bandsaw over the other unit. if you can get one for 350.00 in great shape which is a great price, you will be much more happy. I have the Princess Auto unit which is the Canadian version of HF and it has a great unit all the way. Never let me down once.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
