I can get the millermatic 211 for $940 or the millermatic 190 for $790. How different are these machines besides for the fact that the 211 can be used on a standard outlet? i honestly dont see me ever needing the welder to leave the garage which has 220v in it already. Is one or the other better quality wise? Is the extra 1/16" of an inch worth the extra 150 bucks? It seems to me the 190 will be plenty for what i need in the garage but for 150 bucks i dont want to cheap out if the 211 is superior to the 190.
Reply:I believe there is a new version of the 211 coming out soon. The old version may go on deeper discount. Also, dont forget to check for rebates. Could help you get some other gear you need along with the 211.Both will be good welders. I think the flexibility of the dual voltage is very nice if you ever need to go help a friend etc. Counter to that, the 211 is heavy. If all you plan is work in your garage and the rebates wont help you, get the 190 and spend the extra 150 on consumables and practice materials.Multimatic 200Ellis 1800Haberle S225 9" cold sawMM 300; Spoolmate 30A w/ WC-24TB 302GDynasty 280 DX Tigrunner
Reply:The 190 is about 1/2 the weight of the current model 211, if that matters. 40 something vs 80 something, without wire.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:You might plan on never needing to use it on 110v but then when you do you can't.My choice would always be the 211 over the 190.
Reply:Buy the biggest machine that's practical for you, get the 211.
Reply:Do you know about the 211 FREE SPOONGUN ? http://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/Spoolmate_RebateFlye.pdfPLUS the rebate on the 211 or 190 ? http://www.millerwelds.com/landing/b...content=onlineI have a 211 and would definitely buy that. If you do not need the spoolgun, then sell it .
Reply:Is there any time of year thats best to buy a miller discount wise? Any websites ever run some good specials?

Reply:i kept a miller 211 on my service truck .... they are kick *** little machines. If i was close enough to work off the truck, i had a 50 ft 220 extension cord to run off my trailblazer ... otherwise i had a 100 ft heavy gauge 110 extension cord. I ended up using it a lot down in a pump holes and such putting in handrails or making light repairs if i was working in a building or too far from the truck to drag out leads. I even kept a small bottle of C25 on the truck with 100ft gas hose ... and and the standard 3 ft hose as well. Took a dolly and built lead hooks, bottle rack, and shelf for the welder ... rolled that thing everywhere.AWS CWI xxxx21711968 SA200 Originally Posted by WelderMike I hate being bipolar, It's awesome.

Reply:Originally Posted by AFFENDETheir prices are way high .... Even their advertised "regular price" is a lot higher than Miller MSRP. Their Miller 252, for example is listed as $3082 on sale for $2395 .... Miller MSRP is only $2459 for the same thing. Their Digital elite for $400 on sale for $250 .... MSRP is $317.30That is some backhanded marketing and ****ty business tactics ... Trying like hell to make it look like they are giving you a good deal. I bought a 211 for my service truck about 4 years ago .... I paid $1150 for the full setup, spoolgun, extra consumables, a few rolls of wire, and two small bottles of C25.Good to know that i should add welders supply to my "not a million years vendor list"
Reply:I purchased a millermatic 190 about 3 months ago and have had many problem with drive shaft roller, miller sent a new motor and that shaft was bent as well. they sent a new machine and that motor shaft was bent as well. The wire feeds and then doesn't feed, no matter what pressure setting. It balls up just past the roller going into the lead or burns out faster that it feeds or burns back into the tip, causing it to stick in the nozzle tip. Hope they fix these issues on their machines. |
