Recently purchased a sa-200. Believe model to be a 77 but not sure on how to indentify. motor is not original (told by previous owner) but now for the fun stuff, motor runs (great oil pressure, little blow-by) but carb (zenith, br2-210 only thing on carb) needs rebuilt, no way to identify it. welder doesn't make any power output, but need carb rebuilt so I can get the local generator repair man to figure this machine out. any help would be very, very helpful
Reply:Probably an old zenith up draft.... any local carb shop should be able to rebuild it for short money._________________Chris
Reply:thanks, but up here in the sticks, well we don't have anyone around that does that. would accomplish myself if I could figure out which model it is, have it torn down soaking in chemical carb cleaner hopefully something will pop up...thanks again
Reply:well if you can't find out anything ups to a guy in my area that used to rebuild mine. If you need I can get you the information._________________Chris

Reply:NAPA can get you the carb kit, I just ordered one for my Marvel carb.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:These engines are common in tractors and are easy to find parts for. I'd bet Tractor Supply stocks a carb kit. I'm going to have to find out soon cause I have to rebuild the carb on my Big 40 Miller, which uses the same engine. Not a beginner, not a pro !
Reply:Mine has a Marvel - Schebler carburetor. I can't remember if I got the kit at Auto Zone or Advance but I was really surprised they had it. Mine hadn't been running in 25 years and had quit welding back then. I used scotchbrite to clean the commutators. The little one on the end powered the grinder outlet but still no weld. I removed the sheet metal band covering the big commutator and it was not only severly tarnished but the brush holders had corroded and the brushes couldn't move. There was mouse nest residue in there! I took them apart and cleaned them up, I had to make a new retainer band for one of them out of sheet metal. The brushes themselves were in great shape. When I got it back together it welded great! Reply:thanks to all that responded, took some doing but I got a kit from advanced auto, carb should be done soaking by weekend, so we'll get the old girl going then
Reply:Good.... hope it works out for you._________________Chris
Reply:Check out www.weldmart.com they are very helpful with trouble shooting and they have a free cd catalogue. The fella named Larry talked me through checking the idle solonoid and had it diagnosed likity-split. Great bunch of guys.I just rebuilt mine (Marvel) with a 23$ kit from NAPA. Do like Brad Brazer says when yoou get it running and you might have to "re excite" the exciters if it has not been welded with in a while. weld mart can tell you how.Good luck. I will use my SA 200 over my 2 year old Miller Trailblazer 350 Diesel every chance I get!!
Reply:I hear that my SA-200 gets more arc time than my Trailblazer. I was very sad today the SA-200 ran out of gas(been on the job all week) and I had to finish up with the Miller.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
