I went to a tractor supply to buy me a gas settlement bowl assembley for my 1953 short hood I have redone and seen setting on some 4x4 square tubing a SA 400 Amp Lincoln with the doors and no dents painted a flat black.I ask the man would he sell it he said yes I ask how much he said $750.00 and I about freaked.I ask if it ran and he went over and pulled the choke and hit the switch and the 6 cylinder Red Seal cranked and did not miss a lick.He got the stinger and ground and ran a bead without a welding hood on a piece of flat plate and as I looked at the adjustment handles the face plate is a faded red it will get down with the program and no smoke or oil leaks.I told him I will be back and he said he had several. It is about a 60`s something model was so excited did not question the model.Man its a big machine.I expected the machine to be louder than the 4 cylinder Red Seal but actually the 6 cylinder was not as loud and my short hood nor the giant has mufflers just rain caps on the exhaust pipes.I might sell my redone 1953 short hood now.Steven.Good welding is between the shoulder and the holder.I also like the decal logo that says: MILLER KILLER
Reply:Glad you found something you like. Welcome to the site! Although I don't know much about the older machines, I've seen some going for a tad lower than that. Again, to me, that seems like alot for that old of a machine.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Microzone a SA 200 Lincoln in good shape especially a 100% copper wind sells down here in louisiana for up to $4000.00.A SA 400 Amp is way more machine and could go as much as $6500.00 old ones to.Most are junk and dont run and will go for $500.00 or better. The SA 400 I found today is ready to go on a job.I could buy it for $750.00 and repaint it and make a huge profit but I will work it for my profit. Thanks for your opinion though.God bless.Steven.Good welding is between the shoulder and the holder.I also like the decal logo that says: MILLER KILLER
Reply:Nice deal. That is a continental engine, prolly an F227.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I dont know as of yet what type engine the SAE 400 has but it`s a 6cyl Red Seal and the machine is in very good shape.I still can`t believe it is only going to cost me $750.00.It will take a heck of a truck to mount it on.You dont hardly find them with the original doors either.Thank you david.Steven.Good welding is between the shoulder and the holder.I also like the decal logo that says: MILLER KILLER
Reply:Hi Steven,I'm glad to hear you found a welder so quick. I think you are going to come out of this accident deal OK. Finding that machine was your first stroke of luck. Maybe you can get that Dodge diesel you told me about and put it on that. Just use that welder to build a big deer bumper for the truck.Dave B.E-MAIL: [email protected] PAGES: www.wfmservice.comwww.rides4rides.comwww.pvpmedia.com/53f100.htmDad always said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."I say, We can make it better.
Reply:Thank you Dave.Got my old shorthood running and man does it run and weld good.I realized though I will have to replace the radiator guess being a 1953 model it is rotten and cant be repaired.A new one is gonna be around $400.00 bucks.Think I will sell the short hood and by the SAE 400 Giant. Thanks again.Steven.Good welding is between the shoulder and the holder.I also like the decal logo that says: MILLER KILLER

Reply:Originally Posted by DGBIf you don't have to do that real soon I will take a look at a place I know that might have a radiator that you can use. If they have it they will probably want $100.00 for it. I think if you got the shorthood back together and working it would bring more considering what you have put into it.
