I'm fabricating a custom exhaust for a motorcycle I'm building, and I need some advice. I can get all the tight bends from mandrel bent sections sold all over the internet. The part I'm having a hard time with is the last 24" of the exhaust. Below is a picture similar to what I'm building. My question is, how do I get that gradual bend in thin walled tubing? I tried filling it with sand and hitting it with my hydraulic die bender but it kinks and wrinkles. Shops with a mandrel bender say they cannot do such a large radius. Any help is appreciated, especially if someone has advice on a DIY solution! Thanks!
Reply:Also the tubing OD is 2.25" or 2.375", steel. I haven't decided for sure yet.
Reply:Hello moespeeds, if you can find a shop in your area that has a tube/pipe roller similar to the one that I have included in this link, they can likely roll a section of pipe to whatever particular radius that you are after and then you can cut the appropriate length from it. Reply:I've been calling all over the place for a week, it seems nobody has a roller that can do tubing larger than 2". Will a roller do the job without wrinkling it?
Reply:A roller will do it, but the rolls must be sized/shaped to the pipe to keep it from collapsing or kinking.
Reply:So anyone know where I can find a roll bender that can do the job???
Reply:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=roll+bending+serviceI think you should be able to find someone who can do it there.Have we all gone mad?
