Stick welding question

You ever get into the groove laying down a bead of something like 7018 and start daydreaming? I was padding beads for practice today and kept zoning out, and of course my beads would start drifting off course. There is something about the arc that is TOO relaxing, almost like white line fever when driving. Maybe I should play some music in the shop or something??Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:That is one of the biggest reason I got out of welding, and went to rigging full time. I call it mental chatter. You get to the point with welding, like driving. Do you think about driving when you’re doing it, nope. You think about everything else.
