With nothing to do today and a bunch of guys sittin' around in the barn watching NASCAR an hour ago, we all threw $5 in a bucket, cut and beveled some 1/4" mild steel 2x4" pieces and had a sudden death, elimination weld-off. 2x4 coupons, one shot per entry using a Miller 211, a Lincoln 180 or a Thermal Arc 210. I figured as much of a beginner as I am, it'd just be a donation but I figured what the heck. If you lost the one-on-one round, you could get back in for another $5. So, after $100 was sittin' in the pot, it came down to three people. Mine's in the middle and it was judged best MIG. We're just a bunch of retired, limited-experienced ranchers whose backgrounds run from retired attorney to retired marketing and other executive positions and whose welding experience extends only to taking care of our own equipment and property but I guess I'm pretty happy; Rather like winning one of those $2 stuffed animals at the fair after a fortune in dollar bills!!! So now I gotta' figure out how to split up the pot between all the guys here who have helped me get this far. I know it ain't much but with all that's been going wrong for us the last couple of months, I felt I finally had something to share here.If I haven't said it before, Than You for everything you all have helped me with, going from pigeon poop to $100 welds. From the gentler members to the tough love of Weldermike, this is a wonderful, caring place and the world is a better place for it.
Reply:I mean $100 20 ways!
Reply:See brother, a kick in the butt is still a step forward. Major progress bud by leaps and bounds brother I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:I'll never be in your all's league but like someone here said a couple days ago when I posted some MM211 pics (with those two magnificent cracks) at least I can stand back and know that it won't fall apart. "Work the puddle!!!" Thanks Mike and all. It's been a pretty tough couple of months. It's nice to be able to have something good happen. And to drillerjoe, this just goes to show, tough times don't last; tough people do. They'll find those bastards and even if they don't, you'll make some good friends here that are pitchin' in to help you after your theft. Any word on the surveillance video? |
