Ok so what's the difference between flash back aerators and check valves and where should theyY be at the mixer or at the regulator
Reply:Check valves prevent the reverse flow of gases. If a cutting torch tip gets clogged, higher pressure oxygen could force its way back into lower pressure acetylene hoses. They stop this (in theory).Flashback arrestors prevent a flame front from traveling through them. Should mixed (explosive) gases end up in your hoses, this would prevent a flame from traveling back up them.Personally, while people will argue both ways, my feeling is that if you actually purge your lines before use, the combination flashback arrestor / check valve provided with a Victor "FC" torch is more than sufficient protection.
Reply:Well I have a couple of smith torches that I am going to be using and a purox torch I have installed check valves but at thetorch side |
