Just bought a smith SC-510T cutting torch outfit. I was wondering what everybodys thoughts are on these torches.White Face DialArcMM252Miller Bobcat 225D plusHypertherm 600
Reply:Work better then Victors.
Reply:In my opinion Smith is the finest. There is nothing wrong with Victor or Harris, I just prefer Smith.Seems like a nice set if you will use all the pieces."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Smith is the best!! Made in the USA!!! And the lifetime warranty doesn't hurt either....

Reply:Hope you didnt give much for it. In the oilfield a Victor is worth 125.00 the rest is 25.00. You can tell I like Victor. I have three. Gave away a Smith the other day. Harold
Reply:my smith gives me no problems.. if i dont shake it cuts nice..does anyone know how to enlarge weldingropers avatar foto??
Reply:Welderskelter,The only way a Victor torch would be worh more than a Smith, would be if they put a little Mexican in the box (to use it) when they shipped the Victor from Mexico.Victor is not the torches they once were. Even WHEN they were decent, the Smith was still better.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:To Smith, "Take your old screw in tips, and stuff em' you know where"Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:My favorite torch brands lately are "barter", "Ebay", and "equipment auction". Oh, to the original poster, "that's a NICE outfit" and:Get the STEEL Smith guage guards. That's one piece where they beat Victor soundly. The tiny tack welds holding the (Chinese made, the sticker is inside) Victor guage guards snap off easily, as I found out at work.To Smith, "Take your old screw in tips, and stuff em' you know where"
Reply:Now let's touch on the rather lightweight tubes and operator's hand cuts caused by sharp pieces of peeling chrome (nickel?) plate.Last edited by denrep; 02-19-2011 at 03:42 PM. |
